  • Comments Thread For: Edwin Rodriguez Ready: I Want Adonis Stevenson Next

Light heavyweight contender Edwin Rodriguez (27-1, 18KOs) is ready for a world title shot.

Rodriguez was set to fight for the WBA super middleweight championship, when he faced Andre Ward in 2013. Rodriguez struggled to make weight, coming in two pounds over the limit. The fight went ahead as a non-title encounter and Rodriguez lost a twelve round unanimous decision.

Now fighting full steam at 175-pounds, Rodriguez wants to get a shot at WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (26-1, 21KOs).

The way it takes Rodriguez about 90 minutes to launch a predictable, looping punch does not fare well for him. Watching Rodriquez throw punches is like watching normal fighters throw punches - but when you are totally drunk.

He's a better opponent than Sukhotsky and Bika, maybe even Fonfara too.

Rodriguez is about as good as you can hope for as an opponent where Stevenson is concerned.

Not as good as Fonfora, but better than Sukhotsky. Dunno about Bika.

I think he's a better LHW than Bika.

Fonfara gets Chavez credit from people now but I don't think he's that great tbh.

I knew they were going to set up the winner for Stevenson, considering his lack of opponents.

This will end horribly for Rodriguez.

Fonfara's great coming forward but crap on the backfoot. I also don't think much of E-Rod because them damn loops he throws.

Why doesn't he try to avenge his loss to Ward instead?
