As previously reported, Promociones del Pueblo announced that former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) would make his return on July 18th against Marcos Reyes (33-2, 24KOs).

After more than a year off, Chavez Jr. returned to the ring last month and was stopped by top light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara in nine rounds. Chavez Jr is the next Chad Dawson, jumping from trainer to trainer. It didn't matter who trained Chavez Jr, he had no chance in hell against Fanfara. As soon as I heard contracts were signed and Chavez Jr is fighting Fanfara I immediately shook my head at the ******ity of Chavez Jr's handlers. There was a reason why Chavez Sr was against this fight. He knew Fonfara was no joke and Chavez Jr needed a softer opponent at 175 to acclimate to the weight, plus he had a long layoff.

Whatever so called "incident" that happened between Chavez Jr and Goossen was just and excuse to make Goossen the scapegoat.

I see Chavez Jr. as extremely 1 dimensional and he won't change. It's left hook to body or nothin. Most fighters know what's coming now and aren't afraid to get in there with him.
