  • Comments Thread For: No HBO Participation For Top Rank's Card in Macao

Unlike past cards staged by Top Rank in Macao at the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Resort, there will be no participation by HBO, which has usually broadcast these events on same day tape delay on HBO2. But this time around Top Rank is on their own.

"Because they have something else that day and it costs us a lot of money to do it up to HBO standards more than it would cost for doing it on Chinese television," explained Arum, of this card that will feature Nonito Donaire and his cast of Asian boxers.

All that HBO ass kissing by Arum fell on deaf ears, Top Rank losing Cotto/Chavez jr plus Pacquiao not only losing but sidelined has loosened the power they had over HBO.

HBO already threw them a bone with Trutv and the ratings make the PBC look like the NFL, we might see a return of pinoy power and latin fury if HBO starts making this a habit.

Well no ****! Look at the Donaire-Vetyeka debacle-Donaire walking away with a title on a 5th Round Technical Decision in a fight that only seen 4 rounds! Of course HBO wouldnt want to be involved with that kind of shady outcome. TopRanks almost out the door and lost their choke hold on HBO, idoubt Pac will be on PPV again, no Cotto, no JCC Jr, if it wasntfor Terrance Crawford, Loma, TopRank wouldve lost all their footing and its only a matter of time before they find out Bobs short changing em as hes done to every great fighter hes promoted...they end up leaving TR. Slimy @$$ Bob

If I can't see Yang/Cuenca for the real LightWelterweight crown then I'm going to be an unhappy camper.

I get the impression that Arum is burning a lot of bridges. Arum's move to blame it on the shoulder made the job of selling fights more difficult for Vegas and HBO (the parties he would be looking to do business with). People probably don't want to hear this but what he did was incredibly selfish; he was only concerned with the marketability of his product and didn't stop to consider the implications his words would have on the people he is doing business with.

HBO is just 1 Network, I don't need HBO to enjoy boxing find another network and the Boxing fans will come!

The TruTV cards have been good. pretty sure that network always gets low ratings so I wouldn't look to far into the ratings so far. The product has been pretty solid though thus far.

Curious to see how much of this fight card ends up on UniMas.

Donaire is the most well-known fighter on the card, and Ramirez has already become a main-eventer on UniMas, so I could see those fights on UniMas.

Yang may be an entity in China, but he isn't in the US.

Something's could be getting cut out, perhaps Yang-Cuenca and/or Bey-Shafikov.

Would that leave it to a Top Rank stream?
