Comments Thread For: James DeGale: I am Leaving Everything in The Ring!

JAMES DEGALE used to hate history – but now he’s ready to write his own.

The London southpaw was a nightmare at school and even tried ballet and acting in a bid to sort himself out.

Winning gold at the Beijing Olympics proved DeGale had talent.

But a lack of focus and bouts of mismanagement saw the 29 year-old fighting in a Bristol Leisure centre, a million miles away from realising his dreams.

dirrell will tame degale , humble him , he'll be glad to be back at bluewater

dirrell looks a bit dry and scrawny but he's still a far better athlete than degale. golovkin would own both but I digress

Dirrell will lay everything in the ring too. A dramatic performance from his back. Probably rolling around feigning a headbutt or some sort of foul.

yes, dirrell, dancing on ice, slipping in the corners. He'll be doing a few cheeky arm punches on the break like he did with froch, and ward did with froch too.

I presume Degale means everything but the world title belt!

Does Richie Woodhall not count as a British Olympic Medalist who won a world title?

DeGale would be the first Brit Gold medallist to win a pro world crown. Woodhall got a bronze in Seoul, 1988, where he lost to Roy Jones in the semis. Alan Minter also took bronze in 1972 before beating Antuofermo as a pro to grab the middleweight title.

Woodhall was a WBC Super Middleweight champion. If they're talking Gold then that makes sense, but it doesn't say Gold in the article.

Edit: It says British Olympic champ so I guess they do mean Gold Medalist by that. My mistake.

Not always a Degale fan but wish him luck for tonight where he could be found out but my thinking is he'll be too young and hungry for Andre who's best may well be in the past.Degale by late stoppage but I could be way off the mark as Andre is a class act.
