Comments Thread For: Shaw: Geale Could Be as High as 175 For Miguel Cotto

Promoter Gary Shaw says WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto made a big mistake in selecting former three time champion Daniel Geale as the opponent of choice for June 6th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

If Cotto wins, he is then likely going to face Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The last time Cotto was in line to face Canelo, he took on Austin Trout in a junior middleweight contest in December of 2012 at Madison Square Garden. The fight did not go as expected with Trout piling up the points to hand Cotto his first defeat at MSG. It was Trout who went on to face Canelo the following year.

Doubt that'd be a positive 175 for a guy who isn't really a big body type wanting to utilize movement/workrate.

This fight has the potential to be a tough one for Cotto. What he has on his side is that Geale is not exactly renowned for his durability. Mundine dropped him and GGG folded him like a lawn chair as soon as he landed.

Cotto needs to be ON TOP of Geale working that jab too get inside, left hook to the body all day and follow upstairs. If he can mount that consistency he will stop Geale.

If Geale gets range and can box freely, this will be a much tougher night for Cotto. Geale is the bigger man with faster hands.

Hope Geale Beats Down Cotto Like Trout Did

Cotto has become so full of himself. Wouldn't fight Canelo. Wouldn't fight GGG. Now he's hoping Geale is the weak link. Gutless.

When was he going to fight Canelo??? May 9, a week after May Pac??? Bro, that fight has to be on ppv. Canelo was beasting to get it done regardless of if it was gonna be on the May 2nd or not. Cotto was gonna want it in June if it couldn't get done on May 2nd. Canelo them put a deadline and then went his separate way.

Negative, Cotto is faster then Geale. Geale is a carbon copy of Yuri Forman, height, boxing style, movement, Forman actually has a longer reach. Cotto wins inside of 8. Geale likes to trade and will not run for an entire fight.
