Sky Sports and Matchroom Sport have extended their exclusive UK and Ireland broadcast partnership until 2021, offering up to 120 nights of live boxing over the next six years.

The new agreement will bring even more exclusively live access to one of the strongest stables ever seen in world boxing. Only on Sky Sports will viewers be able to follow the next generation of British boxers including James DeGale MBE, Kell Brook, Lee Selby, Kevin Mitchell, Scott Quigg, Luke Campbell MBE and Anthony Crolla. Viewers will also be able to watch gold medallist Anthony Joshua MBE, one of Britain’s most exciting sporting prospects.

Then we can get a Bellew vs Cleverly rubber match for £20. How about Brook vs Gavin or Selby vs Gradovic for £20. Same price we paid to watch the two greatest of this generation. Then I go on twitter and my delusional casual Brits actually justifying paying for Brook - Gavin.

I hate the monopoly Matchroom have over at Sky. Matchroom card then a show from Canada, rinse and repeat until 2021???????

i don't think this is good for british boxing. as you can see from the brook-gavin fight, exclusivity breeds complacency

I really hope Hearn bucks his ideas up because I am getting sick with all these mediocre headliners with 'stacked undercards' he keeps putting on. Always the same **** formula of putting 3-6 good quality British talents against completely terrible opponents on the undercard with a headliner that matches a good British fighter with a mediocre opponent, the whole exercise of which is to build towards a bigger "money" fight that will either be in the US or on Sky Box Office because all that matters is that his fighters reach the holy grail of PPV and earn 'live-changing money'. Great but how about value for money on sky sports?

It's actually not a bad card, how many PPV cards do you get these days with 3 world title fights?

Having said that, I believe the PPV model is pure capitalism and I don't like it but if we're going to have PPVs, then this is clearly better than Pac/May or the other lopsided PPVs we've seen recently, not just in terms of competition but also in terms of the number of relevant matches. As PPVs go, this is pretty good.

But I repeat, I don't like the PPV model.

No doubt sky are banking on more Froch Groves type fights at Wembley. Lets see if they can deliver. With a big six year contract all pressure is off Eddie to do what he likes. Which is a scary thought.
