THE World Boxing Council has described the punch which hard-hitting southpaw Eden Sonsona used to knock out previously unbeaten Adrian “Diamante” Estrella as “a lethal right thunderbolt,” which took the world-rated Mexican by surprise.
Replays of the fight showed Sonsona landing an overhand left before nailing Estrella with a perfectly timed right hook flush on the jaw to drop Estrella, who beat the count but staggered into his corner and fell against the ropes, giving referee Curtis Thrasher no choice but to call a halt at 0:27 of the second round.
The WBC reported that Sonsona, who conquered the WBC International super featherweight Silver title was “aggressive, throwing dangerous punches constantly landing on Estrella,” who tried to turn the contest into an intelligent fight and to box.
