Donnie Nietes vs Rodriguez Jnr set for July 4th

If Ahas falls it will be, IMO, because Rodriguez Jnr outworks him. Sometimes Nietes can be too economical and lack activity.
He has been opening up more though.Comment

Good fight. May the better man win. Ahas is a very technical fighter, so I hope Rodriguez doesnt let his chin too exposed. Nietes appears to be upping hs workrate as well so Rodriguez shouldnt be able to just run him down. I still think that if Rodriguez is able to hurt him or get in his head early he can get him to shell up a bit. I think thats the best way for him to win. Dont know how well he can box with Ahas on the outside, Nietes is a good counterpuncher.Comment

From the handful of Nietes fights I've seen, I really think he's a top 15-ish p4p fighter. Nice little counterpuncher, smart, positions himself well to find the right shot. He is a bit too cerebral and waits too much, so like you said a guy who throws a lot like Rodriguez could outwork him. But Rodriguez is pretty easy to hit, and if Nietes ups his volume just a bit, he should nail Rodriguez with a lot of sharp shots and dominate. Good matchup.Comment

Can't wait,
. Too bad Chihuas didn't get his tuneup on May 9th in because the dumb promoter didn't check the weather forecast though,
. Chihuas and Armando Torres were talking a lot of s**t,
.
May 9th was the best day of boxing this year so far. Canelo vs. Kirkland, Figueroa Jr. vs. Burns, and Kameda vs. McDonnell were all good fights. And it could've been even better if Gomez vs. Soto and Rodriguez Jr. vs. Torres didn't get cancelled,
.
