this is the one fight that actually means all the sense of the world
Same network: HBO
Ward has NOTHING left at 168 except weight for a smaller man to go up. Kovalev would cement his greatness.
Size? similar enough. And Ward is making up his own Canelo/DSG weight. Dude can't make 168.
Ward not even hinting about Kovalev is absurd.
Of course the Ward fan in here will say but GGG do; guess what, GGG fights a division below and has good business left at 160.
Ward has NOTHING to do at 168 anymore. He's the king.
What a disappointing career for Ward. He should have targeted Stevenson and Kovalev.Comment

fair enough, it's up to you if you believe that I want those fights or not it depends on the fighters and I didn't think about you but about "OP and some of his mates".A lot of GGG's fans, myself included, would love to see him fight Ward.
I don't know if he would win, but I know that if he lost it would be on points, and losing on points to Ward at SMW wouldn't hurt his reputation or cost him his MW titles and ranking.
I also know that no matter many people write "let's see Golovkin vs Ward" here, it isn't going to happen till both men want it to.
And at the moment, NEITHER of them want it.Comment

ThisIt makes no sense for GGG to go after Ward, since GGG is a star, and Ward is not.
But it completely makes 100% sense for a fighter like Ward, who is already fighting only a few pounds from Kovalevs weight, and who is so unpopular HBO refused to show his fight, forcing him to fight on BET, to go after Kovalev, as he needs to.
Ward is the one that needs to fight Kovalev.
Kova and GGG are good. They're on top of the world. Ward has no cred, no sway, no influence. He needs to get on his knees and he might get a Kova fight.
That was many many moons ago son. Time for Ward to leave the division he cleaned out and prove his p4p worth(like the greats are supposed to do)!
I agree! There needs to be a SENIORITY type program put in place when fans ask certain fighters to move up in weight, and ask yourself this:
Who's turn is it to move up for someone else?
Lets see, Chad Dawson - the Light Heavyweight Champ at that time moved down for Ward (though it was his fault) and fought him at his weight class. Nothing was required of Ward but to defend his title as per usual.
Now that there is a established beast at 160, and people wanting him to move up to fight Ward, again NOTHING IS REQUIRED ON WARD's part. All he has to do is make his usual weight and defend his 168 title, in a division where he is the true champ and the #2 guy Froch already lost to him.
Seniority rules would suggest that Ward needs to move up and fight Kovalev more then GGG needs to move up to fight Ward.
As long as it happensComment
