Comments Thread For: Video: Willie Monroe Reflects on His Defeat To Golovkin

Radio Rahim catches up with Willie Monroe to discuss his TKO defeat to Gennady Golovkin. WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (30-0, 30KOs) stopped Monroe in six rounds at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Golovkin dropped him hard twice in the second round and one final time in the sixth, where Monroe told the referee that he had enough. With the victory Golovkin gained his 20th consecutive knockout victory.

After Monroe got dropped twice in the second, he miraculously came on strong in the third and fourth round of the contest, landing several combinations to the head and body of Golovkin. Eventually the power was too much and Monroe was overwhelmed as he got hurt really bad in the fifth and then taken out in the sixth. [Click Here To Read More]

Good man, good boxer I would like to see him back. He has style and is a personable young man.
He was smart because he knew his legs were gone and thats when you can get seriously hurt, surprised his corner didn't jump when the kids legs were folding.

It's not easy to be a contender without punching power, you have to be in tremendous condition and maintain a high work rate. No breaks in the action unless your opponent is slow footed. He has some talent and is well schooled.

I would like to see him in with Quillin. That would be a good chess match.
