Comments Thread For: Golovkin Eyes Unification, Sees Mayweather as Long shot

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (32-0, 29KOs) is looking to win every world title at 160-pounds. Besides the two belts around his waist, he also holds the WBC-interim title which makes him the mandatory challenger to champion Miguel Cotto.

Golovkin will return later tonight, to face Boxcino champion Willie Monroe Jr. at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. Beyond Monroe, Golovkin hopes to fight Cotto or possibly a fight with the winner of David Lemieux and Hassan N'dam, who battle for the vacant IBF middleweight title.

Awesome. GGG wants to fight a welterweight, a jr middleweight, or some C class bum for a meaningless trinket. This dude is a joke.

The usual bigmouth Mayweather is remarkably silent these days as Golovkin calls him out. How about showing some balls before you retire?

"My goal is to win all of the belts in the middleweight division. For me that is very important. I want a unification fight. But for right now my focus is on Monroe. He is a good fighter and I respect him. I think it is a good show, not just my fight. I think the second fight on my show with "Chocolatito" [Roman Gonzalez vs. Edgar Sosa] is beautiful, too. A lot of great champions on my show," Golovkin told reporter Brian Campbell.
With that quote alone, Golovkin showed more class that Cotto and Oscar and all the GGG haters combined.

"My goal is to win all of the belts in the middleweight division."

All the haters complaining about him not moving up should remember that one line right there before they post the same crap the next time. Respect. Have some for a change.

Actually Golovkin is complimenting Mayweather, not calling him out.

Golovkin isn't completely green and inexperienced like canelo was and isn't completely past prime/faded like cotto/pac/Mosley/oscar was, and isn't suffering from injuries.

Oh yeah..that guy fighting a nobody, in front on no one, on a no name network.
GGG is the A side and face of HBO boxing. Ward can bring his as down to 164 and fight him.
