After his third round knockout of James Kirkland in Houston, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is looking to return on September 12th, which falls on Mexican Independence Day weekend.

WBO/WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who also has the WBC/WBA titles at junior middleweight, is also planning to return on September 12.

Mayweather and Canelo had a standoff earlier this year for the Cinco De Mayo date of May 2nd. Mayweather was easily able to claim 5/2 when he finalized a deal to face Manny Pacquiao.

Say the fight took place at 154, Canelo would go through the same problems he did making 152. He ain't looking any better at the weigh in.

Canelo came in at 174 on fight night. So save the wt drained crap. Fred roach stipulates a fighter must wt in ON FIGHT NIGHT at the agreed upon wt. Canelo had 24 hours of I.V. fluids and nourishment. So on fight night he was NOT wt drained.

No thanks. Saw it already. Actually I would watch it again if Canelo got rid of his trainers. But we know that won't happen. Canelo could get a lot better under someone like Nacho Beristain.
