Ali = Wladimir of the 70s.. With better footwork and chin.

If MW fought on the radio or on black and white film, he would be marveled by everyone, but due to today's media, he is scrutinized and downplayed.

Ali was a hated man when he ducked the draft. He got a lot worse than boos.

Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Roberto Duran II. Explain to me how Leonard's "running" in that fight is acceptable, but Floyd's "running" is lambasted? I see the same strategy used in both fights, just that Duran actually gave up where Pacquiao at least went through the motions.

Let's also not forget that Leonard was mostly hated by black America during his rise because they felt he was a sellout.

Holyfield got death threats after he bit Tyson's ear and his entire career was flooded with "dirty fighter" claims because of his headbutting.

Calzaghe was hated overseas because people felt he was cherry picking fights to keep his "0".

Naseem Hamed was booed constantly, especially when he would toss out Allah Akbar on the mic.

In summary: Floyd Mayweather is going to be hated because of the character he chose. That character is one that makes money as people pay to see him lose (and ultimately get disappointed). After he's out of the ring, people will look back on him as one of the greats. Just like everyone above is now considered part of the greatest to ever lace them. But their legacy is different.

Floyd's legacy will be that he made more money than any fighter ever had, or ever will, taking significantly less risks. That's all he really cared to do. Don't you get it?

Broner's legacy will be the revival of boxing on prime time TV, because they're already positioning him as the face of PBC. Even though he's had nothing to do with that revival, but that's none of my business.

I despise both boxers equally for different reasons and so feel I can make an unbiased judgement.

Ali does not deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mayweather.

Floyd is perhaps the most skilled boxer of all time and conditioned like few others ever.

Muhammad Ali was a lazy mollusc who could barely even box!

Floyd has a resume approximately 1000x better than Ali's with the highest quality opponents.

Muhammad Ali outweighed 70% of his opponents, outtalled nearly all of them, got plastered in nearly every fight and fought some of the bummiest opposition to ever lace up the gloves.

It is an utter insult for his daughter to compare her father to Floyd in a boxing related sense!

            That is a fact!

Floyd needs to rematch Pac and get a real win over him. Not a highly controversial on so many levels tainted one.

I am a Floyd fan for sure; but I agree with you on this one. No one and I mean no one will ever be as great as Sugar Ray Robinson!!!!

And I agree totally Hugh, in no way am I trying to spare Floyd from his obvious shortcomings with regards to so called TBE status!

But the Ali comparison is outrageous!

Ali never once stepped into the ring with anybody nearly as formidable as Pac.

If you basically lobotomise Pac MAN and take away all of his skills, I suppose he'd be comparable with the quality of Geroge Foreman I guess LOL.

I can't stand Mayweather but there is no opponent or performance of Ali's that even closely competes with that of Floyd.

Moreover I don't think you can really compare any unlimited division boxers to limit weight ones properly because they are usually ALWAYS less skilled, particularly the ones like Ali who relied on size to win over their smaller opponents.

The only ones that rate are former cruisers and sub cruisers who stepped up like Haye and Holyfield for example or a natural HW like Mike Tyson who was so exceptionally skilled and compact that he does rate lb for lb.
