"Why do Floyd fans hate GGG so much?" Where does this logic come from?

I don't seem to recall that, I don't ever remember him being higher than 3 by anyone which may have been high but he was on a solid run in general.

Golovkin is ranked on that list, which I don't agree with but it is not really something that concerns me much as that will take care of itself.

Like I said I would personally rate Martinez run as better but you probably do have a point because the real meat is not all that different. The real difference is Martinez was a lot more fortunate than Golovkin so far.

With regard to 'hype', I don't think Golovkin is being overrated, he's just being talked about an awful lot.

There's a huge difference between the two. I don't see the primary claims made about Golovkin as being especially extravagant.

      1. It's not unreasonable to say he's the best middleweight in the world

      2. It's not unreasonable to say he has been ducked

      3. It's not unreasonable to say he beats guys like Canelo or Cotto

The third of these is the only one that might in any way be a stretch. But again, it doesn't seem like an outrageous claim.

Compare this to when Broner was on his run at 135. We had daily threads on NSB where Broner was 'taking over boxing' after Floyd retired. Or claiming that Broner was top 5 P4P. Or that he was the next fighter of the decade. A lot of the time, those exact same claims were being made or defended by people who spend all of their time slating Golovkin now.

      But that's beside the point.

What people need to bear in mind is the difference between the two types of hype. One is where a guy is being talked about constantly, as Golovkin is. And I can see why that would piss people off. The other is where a guy is being blown up as Broner was and people are making hugely extravagant claims about how good they are.

Most Golovkin fans acknowledge Ward is a very difficult fight at best. I don't see how that can be translated into them massively overrating him. And if all his critics can do is point to a guy in a higher division who is arguably the best fighter on the planet as the man who'll beat him, then I think they recognise that he's not overrated too.

tbh I think that it's not that bad if someone doesn't like most of the African-American and like Eastern-Euro fighter and vica versa, because people (like me also) usually like certain styles and it's happened to most of the Eastern-Euro fighters, most of the latin fighters most of the Afro-American fighters and etc... have similar styles than their country mates. The problem is when someone doesn't include exceptions and clearly doesn't like a group of fighters because their race. When I see guys mocking black fighters here, they use "slick" as a curse and also a lowkey definition to blacks and use mockery words like "bruva" or "bidniss" I honestly think that's not about preferred styles anymore but about something else...

Nice post. Good to see sometimes that there are reasonable minded, sensible Golovkin fans in the sea of minions.

All roads leads to Floyd Mayweather.

In fairness I think his September 2012 are the most annoying bunch, I actually quite like him. But I have seen this before many times over the years of watching a lot of boxing not just watching boxing from 2012.

I hope he moves up for better challenges because at the moment there is nothing at 160 for him.

At least they don't pretend to be objective and they declare trumps from the start. It's better than being a sneaky **** to push some agenda by pretending something they're not. Just my opinion.

A lot of Floyd fans who say they are a fan of ggg yet go around and trash his competition (knowing full well that quillin has ducked him, cotto doesn't want to fight etc etc) aren't his fans. THEY'RE LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!

Truth is GGG isn't thug life enough for them. He isn't of their color which means they trash him. Like they trash pacquiao, and like they trash wladimir a good man.
Wrong. A fan can criticize a fighter he supports. Just like I can admit a lot of Floyd's best wins came against fighters past their prime.

You are just one of the delusional cult members I've been speaking of that wet their pants at the sight of criticism. In addition, you want to create a fake rivalry/race war that doesn't exist because Manny Pacquiao failed you.

So now they are attempting to link Floyd fans to GGG, and pull race cards to reinvent themselves. Even though they are separated by 2 divisions, are at different stages in their careers and will never fight.

The problem is, they don't realize that many Floyd fans, appreciate skills which GGG has. So unfortunately for them, this trolling and race baiting won't work because fans who appreciate superb boxing skills support both Floyd and GGG.
                    Excellent post. 100% truth.

When he beats a fighter even on Paul Williams or Pavliks level then we can talk but as of now he doesnt even have that on his resume.
