  • Comments Thread For: Algieri Vows To Be Aggressive, Let Hands Go on Khan

Former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) has promised to let his hands go and be aggressive when he faces British superstar Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) on May 29th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card on Spike TV.

Last year Algieri upset the plans of Ruslan Provodnikov by winning a twelve round split decision to capture. Later that year, Algieri got the biggest opportunity of his career by landing a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. The WBO stripped him for moving up. Pacquiao dominated the fight, dropping him six times to win a very wide decision.

Lol he has very little punching power, if he decides he wants to fight he might get knocked out because khan has faster hand speed and more power.

He's gotta learn how to mount an offense while under pressure. We saw that when Pac started to land some shots, he shelled up and didn't give any sort of offense. He just simply ran, flicked punches and basically survived the entire fight. He is a good technical fighter when he is in his comfort zone but when you can touch him, you can hurt him. He falls apart when you start to land on him even at the lowest of volumes. He needs to learn how to be a 12 round fighter that is always staying competitive finding new ways of besting the guy in front of him while getting shut down by the opposing offense. He simply gave up against Pac. He didn't get down and dirty and take the risks necessary to get himself back in the fight. Khan is going to annihilate Algieri if Chris comes in with the same temperament, which he probably will. Algieri needs a trainer that can tell him the truth and challenge him to be the best he can be.

Algieri is too slick, too Italian.
