Comments Thread For: Takashi Uchiyama Suffers Elbow Injury, Surgery is Set

The World Association super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama is suffering from an elbow injury and it now forces him to undergo surgery at the end of May. Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19 KO) recently defended his title against Thai challenger Jomthong Chuwatana, whom the champion defeated with an impressive early knockout.

Initially, the champion and his team were mentioning a hand injury, but it seems the problem was originally caused by the wear and tear of an elbow cartilage.

I only expected him to fight twice this year

A Miura unification can be made, but you never know

Uchiyama is getting old now, at least in boxing terms. I hope he recovers fully from his injury and surgery

Worst news I've heard all year was hoping he'd fight 3 times this year

I think I've read he's be bothered by injuries throughout his recent inactive stretch which could take it's toll in the long run but it also allows him to stay fresh in terms of in the ring wear

Gamboa is the fight I would prefer more than any other option

Same here, although I think he'd brutalize gamboa. I'm just hoping he doesn't think about retirement due to this injury.

It's not a serious injury he's going to be fighting again on New Years Eve most likely
