Canelo is not having a PPV from what I read. So he will be fighting on HBO Sept 12th, and Mayweather will be fighting on Sho PPV Sept 12th. That's what it sounds like. Unless somehow Mayweather can find a Pacquiao-esque type opponent to shut the date down I don't think "lil red" is moving anywhere.

His leverage being the fact that his fight is not on PPV, and Mayweather doesn't have another Pac in his pocket.

Do you think a PPV with Khan or Thurman is going to force Canelo not to fight on the same date, different venue, and different channel? It doesn't sound like it, but we'll see.

The thing is, it's Mayweather's last fight of his career. So, IMO, regardless of the opponent, he's not worried about what Lil Red is doing or worrying about Lil Red "moving off that date". That's the least of his --and Sho's worries-- considering that this the last fight and will be marketed as such.

Canelo sensibly stepped aside when Pac Vs May was made. But if he faces Cotto in September, then i don't think he will step aside as that's a big fight that will bring in big numbers.
If that did happen, it would be interesting to see who Mayweather chose for his opponent, as it would have to be an appealing fight for fans.

I honestly don't think Cotto will face Canelo next regardless, so i can't really see that situation arising.

I could see Floyd snatching Cotto right out from under Canelo though...


Really Floyd could rematch either of them and have a huge event though.

Floyd doesn't care about Cotto-Canelo profits. He'll be fighting on Sep 12 and regardless of who it's against, a flop for him at this stage won't matter. Besides, he'll still do above 700K at worse. If anything, it's Canelo that needs to be worried about going up against Floyd.

Well if he's not fighting Cotto and instead is fighting a regular guy on HBO TV, then that definitely isn't going to affect Mayweather's plans.

Well, if he's fighting Cotto on Sept 12th then let the bidding war begin because I think a Canelo - Cotto PPV is in more of a demand then anything Mayweather opponent that he has left to bring to the table. Not a bad thing but he shot his wad with the Pac fight.

But I personally don't think they're gonna have Cotto's fight in June and then jump right into a PPV with Canelo in less than three months. I think they want to take their time with that and promote it, etc. So I would assume Canelo is having a regular HBO fight. But, we'll see because I'm just throwing around assumptions so... Yeah.

I still doubt he fights in September. I have a feeling he will wait pac in early 2016 and rematch him then. With the huge numbers that fight drew it's silly no to consider a rematch, knowing it will sell more ppvs than any fight against Khan or Garcia.

I have a feeling he fights in Sept, probably Khan or someone, and then he retires, then Pac is back next year calling him out of retirement for a rematch (possibly)

Miguel Cotto won't go up against Floyd Mayweather. And he's definitely not beholden to what Canelo wants to do. Just watch.

i remember when people said there was no way he would fight twice a year until the contract was over. floyd has done everything people said he wouldnt in the showtime contract. he was supposed to duck canelo fought him supposed to duck manny fought him was supposed to duck maidana and fight khan (even tho u guys instantly flipped the script and said he was ducking khan) he then fought him again cause some people thought maidana won the first fight then fights manny. honestly granted im a mayweather fan i could care less about his persona they made to sell him and what cars he buy all that i just like the way he fights i like the chess part of boxing the point is its obviously a bias position but i think floyd has earned the right to fight wheoever the hell he dam well pleases in this next fight then retire. if he wants to fight a cab driver so be it the guy has literally done everything the public has asked of him at this point and if he wants to fight an easy fight so be it. he has earned that right hes gonna be 39 for god sake. i dont know i just think people have tried everything possible said he was scared to fight fil in the blank its not his fault manny was not healthy instead of people moving on to the next boogie man maybe its time mayweather gets a break and fights whoever he wants then retire. At some point you guys got to give up and just admit floyd is what he is and thats great and the only thing that will beat him at this point is fighting someone to big or age thats it.
