Some think Canelo was gassed which is ridiculous, you just knew Canelo was gonna end it at any moment.

Bro, I don't know what this is in reference to. But, I think you are blowing this way out of proportion. If it's HBO stuff, well the thing is they have to sell their fighter and knock the opposition. That's all it comes down to. No big shock there. This is life after Mayweather-Pacquiao for them.

In terms of the mismatch stuff. Again, everyone knew Kirkland's weaknesses going into the fight. Everyone knew this fight was gonna be exciting while it lasted, and it could have ended either way, in theory. I don't know if I consider this a mismatch, on the basis that either guy could have gone down. I think Kirkland was probably in the top ten at 154 prior to this fight.

Compared to a Cotto-Rodriguez or Lara-Rodriguez, I don't know if I consider Canelo-Kirkland a mismatch. There have definitely been far worse matchups involving a huge difference in skill and fighter caliber.

I mean **** ,wasn't 50 trying to sell a Kirkland-Mayweather fight. Again, its because he has aspects to his game that make him a very dangerous fighter to anyone, in theory. It is what it is.

Maidana was a shyte opponent who had a Balboa moment in the early rounds of the first fight.

          entertainment

HBO is running a third world boxing factory with low skilled and low waged fighters. They have to promise ***8220;excitement***8221; over skilled meaningful fights.
HBO is no longer in the boxing business, they are in the entertainment business.

But I agree with the concept. Comparing that fight to Pac-Floyd was ****** as hell from the biased ass HBO crew. Of course they're buttmad.
            I beg to differ.

Atleast Rios has somewhat of a chin and something someone could confuse as defense.

Kirkland is not only not committed to boxing, but his chin in gone and he has zero defense.

TBH Canelo fights so much that it's not even that big of a deal if he takes on a lower tier guy ever now and then.

Lara, Trout and Mayweather are about as good of a defensive/counter punch trio that you can find on a guys resume....so I'm not knocking Canelo one bit.

look at you guys all decked out with gifs of that LAME ass fight just because two "celebrity boxers" were involved. Most boring fight of 2015.

all the fighters named in this thread so far ar better than kirkland, with the exception of maybe algieri. kirkland isnt much nowadays. used to be a huge bag of tenacity and power. but nowe, i dont even know. hes clearly regressed, not to mention the long layoffs and excessive weight loss...

For Pacquiao it was Chris Algeri.

For Mayweather it was Phillip N'Dou.

You have to go that far back in Floyd's career to find a 'Kirkland' level fighter on his resume.
