    Ring middleweight ranking

How does The Ring magazine justify having Cotto as their champion ahead of GGG? Remember they should be ranking them in a 160 pound fight - no catchweight nonsense. Are there any Cotto fans who put money down on Cotto beating GGG at 160 pounds? Yes I know Cotto beat the man who beat the man who beat the man... Blah blah blah.
But ultimately the rankings are subjective and I'm thinking there are very very few people who see Cotto winning at 160.

Because Cotto is the lineal champ.

Everyone knows who the best 160 fighter in the world is.

the rankings are correct. Cotto is the lineal champ. every other fighter at MW is a contender for that title.

Cotto is the ring Champion you think they should strip him and hand the belt to GGG without even fighting for it?

            lineage.

cotto is the guy who beat the guy. you can trace that title from hopkins, taylor, to pavlik, to sergio.

if he holds the MW title hostage and defends it against welterweights, i'd eventually like to see him stripped. under a vacant lineage, the top two fighters in a division can have a box off to reestablish the lineage. ring mag actually has bylaws that stipulate that it doesn't have to be a # 1 and #2, but can be a top contender and some other top fighter, if the circumstances permit. those included the klitschkos being unwilling to fight because of their brotherhood, and promotor feuds, which seem to be changing shape, but still exist.

That's exactly right. Ring is very traditional and had Spinks as heavyweight champ until Tyson knocked him out in one round. Ring won't have Cotto ahead of GGG on a PFP list.

Because as others said, they have rules and they stick to them. I think this is right.

What the heck other rankings would people want?

The Myth known as GGG is getting out of control. Wake me up when he starts fighting someone with a pulse. Why has GGG not fought anyone of note?
