  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: I’m Very Comfortable At My Weight Right Now

Canelo Alvarez hasn’t made the junior middleweight limit in more than a year, though he hasn’t exactly been that far away from it.

After losing his world titles to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2013 in a bout held with a contractual catch-weight limit of 152 pounds, Alvarez has been in three non-title bouts held slightly over the division’s 154 pound limit, coming in at 155 for his stoppage of Alfredo Angulo, 155 for his split decision over Erislandy Lara, and 154.5 for his third-round knockout this past Saturday of James Kirkland.

Seriously, if you can't make 154, you need to go to 160.

I honestly don't mind the odd catchweight but only if it's 2 guys meeting half way and both seem ok with it. But to create your own weight class and continue fighting at it like it's normal is ridiculous.

If you can't make LMW, move to MW....Oh yeah i forgot, GGG is there. Stick to Caneloweight.

He would gladly make 154 for a big fight. Just doesn't have to. The Cotto bout will definitely be at a catchweight.

They're squeezing GGG. He can either move up (something he definitely doesn't want to do), or he can wait. By the time they're ready to fight him, he'll be on the downside of his career and someone like a Canelo will be a prime, strong, sturdy and experienced middleweight.

He don't want no part of GGG. But GGG will come down and hammer his face in.
