I definitely think there is some truth in that.

If you have a fighter with Kirklands skillset/attributes, and you get the opportunity to land him a 1mil+ payday..... then you should take it immediately I would think.

1mil turns into 100k after an unexpected loss.

Kirkland is a poor mans Juan Roldan. He was offered a shot at GGG but the money was probably less than half this amount. So his team took the most sensible fight. Either way he was probably losing but one would get him more money.

Even if Wolf would have been in his corner, he gets KO regardless. Canelo has power and fought a smart fight against Kirkland, I give Kirkland a lot of credit for making it a dog fight and going all out.

Kirkland was hurt repeatedly against Tapia in the 1st round difference is Tapia isn't a much of a puncher and gassed after that , Canelo is a better puncher/fighter really if Tapia had proven to be anything of substance Kirkland probably would have lost that fight w/Wolfe.... made no difference just being more manly isn't all there is at this level.

50 wants Kirkland back with Ann? For what? We all need to face it Kirkland is good for one thing. As a setup to be brutalized for the entertainment of so-called boxing fans. They tried to get him for GGG but they wanted to pay him pennies. success James has had came from sheer will and physical strength. He has NO BOXING SKILLS WHATSOEVER. He is not capable of defending himself in the ring. After Canelo's embarassing loss to Floyd they needed a punching bag who Canelo could tee-off on and thereby look like he is great. I hope James sees the light and gets out of the game before he is brain-damaged or worse.

Kirkland isn't a good technical boxer but he actually had some good head-movement coming in and had snap to his punches back in the day. Now he solely throws arm-punches. Also, he's not a fighter who can rely on skills alone - like e.g. Mayweather coming from an 18 month layoff against Marquez. Kirkland needs to stay active. He was thrown into this fight way too early.

His relation with Ann Wolfe is much more than just training, I believe. I think Ann plays a BIG psychological role when she is in his corner. And boxing is about psychology - your mind has to be in the fight and ready to rumble.

But they obviously had his reasons to depart from each other.

The Big Bad Wolf himself could have been in Kirkland's corner and it wouldn't have made a difference. But Disney could have wrote the script for his career as an elite fighter because it is in fact little more then a fairy tale.
