  • Comments Thread For: Omar Figueroa Survives Slugfest To Outpoint Ricky Burns

Omar Figueroa fended off a brave stand from visiting challenger Ricky Burns to take a unanimous decision in their CBS-televised headliner Saturday afternoon at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.

Scores were 116-110 (twice) and 117-109, indicative that judges Don Griffin, Cathy Leonard and Nelson Vazquez all missed a hell of a fight.

Burns was penalized for holding, losing one point each in rounds eight and eleven. [Click Here To Read More]

Omar is fun to watch, but he's way too open to last in this game. His camp needs to work on a more defensive style if he's going to compete with the upper tier.

Disgraceful refereeing and judging. Shame it was a pretty decent fight.

      And Figueroa is ****!

Missed this and I'm pissed that I did. I feel like I always miss the good ones. Anyone know where I can catch a replay?

Burns was definitely beaten but showed he is far from finished. He showed that Omar Figueroa will have problems at this weight as he only has one gear by the looks of it and is a bit one dimensional. Was really pleased to see the Burns of old in there.

Burns did a lot of holding & got warned enough times for it, but it was ridiculously harsh to deduct it at a point in which he was visibly hurt by a body shot and was just trying to get a little recovery time.

            Scorecards were absurd.

Burns was holding every round. I don't mind an underdog or challenger holding to win. A champion or heavy favorite who does it is a hack. Burns got shafted.

                  Ugh

Since when are points being taken away for holding? I wish Cole refereed a Mayweather fight cause he'd have him DQ'd by the first round.

I see nothing special on Figeroa ...he is in big trouble with someone with good punch in this weight
