He said he wasn't good enough(regarding ability), weight was never part of his statement. It may be inexcusable but how many PBC fighters have missed weight in their last few events?

you can't have 140 lbers outweighing other 140 lbers by 20 lbs in the ring. guys can die in there. that's too much of an advantage among such small guys.

do you want to reward the guy who comes in overweight? yes, he loses money, but he still has a gigantic advantage in weight.

      remember gatti vs joey gamache?

gomez could have hydrated 15 lbs and been a super middleweight. soto isn't a tiny guy, but he had a robust career as a FW and SFW

here's what can happen when a guy rehydrates up a couple of weight classes. gamache never fought again. if ht eifght had gone longer, who knows what could have happened.

apparently the pbc titles that are being created will be for the * classic weights from yesteryear. Anything else will be a catchweight....

This fight is exactly what I thought of when I read posters saying they should fight anyway. If a guy is going to take on this big of a challenge in fighting a heavier fighter, he has to know way ahead of time, not the day before the fight.

I'm glad Golden Boy took a stand against this shit. Haymon would have told him it's ok and rewarded him with a title shot later on.

FML...my first day out of a boxing coma and now this. I was looking forward to this and thought Gomez had gotten his stuff together. Sigh...well, time for another Novacaine shot, make it a double.
