I would have no gripe with Johnson being in your top 10, why don't you post it?
But I just believe Liston was much more feared and dominant and had a wider impact on the sporting public. Johnson had some wins but also some losses which maybe he shouldn't have had.
He was the lineal MW champion of the world, the top guy in the division for an extended period of time with some exceptional wins, not to mention a steady rise throughout the decade. Name me 10 fighters UNDOUBTEDLY better than Martinez in that period.Comment

Seriously, Cotto isn't in the top 10 for the 2000s? Losing out to JMM and Sergio? Cotto fits all your criteria.

Martinez? But not Tito are you sick? Before you put up the P.S. disclaimer, I'd suggest that you add a little blurb about the accomplishments during the decade, to give some idea to your reasoning
[1/1/00-12/31/10 dovetails pretty clearly with Floyd's career defining run (Corralles, the two Castillo wins, destruction of Gatti, unifying all the belts at 147, beating Oscar, knocking out Hatton, utterly embarrassing Marquez after eighteen months off) and Pacquiao closed out the decade with two **** fights, if we're honest, while also dropping a fight to Morales (while also having three life/death fights with Marquez)]
personally, i think that Mayweather and Hopkins both clearly had the best 2000s of anyone, with Calzaghe/Klitschko/Pacquiao all around the same level under that.
oh well
note: made a typo in my time window. A decade is actually 1/1/00 through 12/31/09, just outside of Pacquiao two **** fights in early 2010 and Pacquiao getting stopped in late 1999. cong****, folksComment

Thanks and having members making their own lists and actually engaging in a boxing discussion for once, rather than worrying about fighters they suck off cos of nationality or some misplaced sentiment.
What kind of top 10 would you have for the various years.
JMM has those exceptionally close fights with Pacquiao and Martinez was THE LINEAL middleweight champion of the world by the time decade closed out.
Cotto was exceptional, I've always been a fan but he was always in the top 3 or 4 of a division, never quite solidifying himself as the best at 140 (that was Hatton) or at WW (Pacman, Mosley, Margarito, Mayweather).Comment
