Al Bernstein Wants Mayweather vs Keith Thurman

    from the Boxing Globe

Now last year when the Mayweather vs Manny fight seemed dead in the water, I had the Boxing Hall of Famer, Al Bernstein from Showtime on my radio show, Thru the Wire. I asked Al who he would like to see Mayweather not just fight but have a shot against and he said Keith Thurman. Now as the smoke and mirrors is removed from the #PacMay fight, Al was asked again and he said the same name, Keith Thurman.

The only thing that this confirms is that Mayweather will probably NOT fight Mr. One Time Keith Thurman. Thurman, who is one of Al Haymon’s PBC fighters, had one of the best quotes of the year when interviewed on PBC about who he wants to fight next. He is a, “Yes Man!”

Both interviews are below, and in my interview with Al you can hear him talk about how Mayweather would do against the 4 Kings of the 1980s, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and Leonard.

my take is Thurman hasn't fought anybody?

Thurman's best wins are Chaves and Guerrero. He needs more experience against elite competition before fighting Floyd. If not, it would look a lot like Floyd-Canelo.

i agree...he knocked Guerrero down but then Guerrero really came at him in the last rounds and out boxed him.

On one hand I think Keith Thurman is legit. On the other hand, I think Floyd will beat him handily, and I want to see Thurman built up before taking on a mega fight like that.

Mayweather is probably going to fight Khan next. I'm fine with that though. Khan looked pretty good last year at 147 and beat Alexander easily.

He's too raw for Floyd. I think he is the future at 47, and there is enough money fights for him down the line.

He needs to be smart, let Floyd retire, and then takeover, but if he's offered the fight, he will take it, and get school like #48
