Until the unbeaten knockout artist is able to get his fellow titlists – including World middleweight champion Miguel Cotto – in the ring, his team has to search for new ways to maintain focus and interest. In selecting Monroe Jr. (19-1, 6KOs) for this bout, Golovkin will have to deal with a slick southpaw who has never been dropped or stopped and also comes in at the hottest point of his career.

    Fakking hell you silly grunts.

You should have changed the subject.

When faced with the indefensible, never attempt to defend.

80-1 odds? hmmm I will slap 20 on Monroe. It is boxing, and weird upsets do happen due to cuts, injury or off nights. Sometimes the big underdog can fight the fight of their life.

Hard to imagine a top fighter making statements (excuses) like that.

          Its worse than Khan/Algieri.

GGG is supposed to be a top fighter.

At least Algieri has been in with a legend.

Floyd vs GGG at 154 would be really interesting...well great in fact. It would have to be after his SHO contract is over though...not enough money in it to make a profitable split HBO/SHO.

That would be a contest...Floyd's speed against GGG's power and chin. I doubt GGG being afraid of Floyd's punches and just walking in a taking his shots in order to land. It would be a question if Floyd still has the legs to get out of there before GGG can hit him. And nobody would be able to blame him for running.

If Floyd can fight Cotto at 160 and 154 as well as Canelo at 154...then there is no reason not to fight GGG at 154. I bet GGG would even agree to a 152 CW if he insisted. I don't think GGG has yet made a million dollar night so I'm pretty sure he'd agree to any demands...including chump change.

That fight is pretty much the only thing I REALLY would like to see...but probably never will.

A GGG fan doing damage control.

              1. Lara has said he will go to 160 for GGG.

              2. GGG has said he'd go to 154 for Floyd.

              3. Lara calls out GGG at 160 and gets no reply.

              4. GGG calls out Floyd at 154 and gets no reply.

Your boogeyman's best win is Martin Murray......that's pathetic

So tell me again how GGG is the one fighting for Legacy? Tell me again how HE is the one being avoided? Oh and my favourite...tell me why Lara needs wins at 160 to fight GGG but he doesn't need to win at 154 to fight Floyd....

              Don't worry I don't expect a reply

Please, I'm not making excuses for his resume. This Monroe match-up is crap and doesn't belong on HBO. I've been joking since the beginning that GGG should fight two guys in one night. Team Monroe thinking he can go from Vera to GGG is crazy. GGG should stop him rather easily, plain and simple. I don't claim he's currently being avoided (though he has been); what he is doing is fighting as much as he can to keep his name relevant, unlike Lara/Quillin who fight twice a year against mediocre opposition and then put on mediocre performances.

All this calling out means nothing since the lines have been drawn by promoters and networks. We know Lara isn't going to fight GGG because Haymon will need him for PBC, and GGG is exclusively with HBO. The only way that match-up would happen is if Lara got in the mix at 160 first and forced a mandatory, or if Haymon would for some dumb reason let him off the hook to fight on HBO. There's no way Lara is just going to make his MW debut against 3G, there's too much bull**** for it to go that smoothly. Would I rather see Lara than Monroe? hell yeah! Monroe has two things going for him though: he brings no promotional drama and he's ranked at MW. At some point, 3G will run out of decent opponents and that's where things will get interesting. Instead of waiting around @160, he should start testing out 168. Cotto/Canelo, Lee, Lemieux are the few notable match-ups for him left @160, and who knows when those will actually happen.

Lara/Floyd vs. GGG is unrealistic. Lara should only be gunning for the titlists in his division (Floyd, K9, Andrade) because that's what GGG is doing. You're reading into GGG calling out Floyd, everyone calls out Floyd but it means nothing because Floyd is the one choosing who he'll fight next. When GGG's front-running options start declining, K2/HBO might start contemplating Lara as an opponent. Maybe they won't; HBO doesn't seem interested in that match-up, therefore it won't happen.
