Anyone in the know know if what he says about the Ali Act is true?

Seems to me that if Haymon is acting as promoter in everything but name, then his interests are vested by acting as manager/adviser to his fighters.

Does he have to literally be the promoter, or could he be in trouble if they can merely prove he is their de-facto promoter?

Oscar is now mad because his company isn't getting the money anymore, but Oscar forgets the money being made for his company came from Haymon and Schaffer. Oscar didn't do squat! He was too busy snorting coke and Tweeting utterly embarrassing things.
He should have taken the money Schaffer was going to get him when they sold his company and lived out the rest of his days, or invested it in something else. As a boxing promoter he wasn't very good. It was Schaffer and Haymon who made GBP into what was.

Lou is lashing out because Golden Boy is threatening to ruin his gravy train from Haymon. You could probably see Haymon's lips moving when his house boy Dibella was ranting. Nothing Lou said was an effective defence to the suit.

There is no doubt Haymon is acting as a promoter.

Promoters are needed to invest the money in the fighter. They put up the money to put on the event. Often times promoters lose lots of money on a fighter building him up before they see a profit.
