He and Haymon are about to game the system again. He will be the promoter, Haymon will be the manager and they will snatch up all the fighters that way.

Schaefer has 10 years of negotiating content deals, establishing relationship across all sorts aspects of putting on a live event, knows the various commissions, has a good relationship with a host of advertisers and a host of other tools, in addition to the knowledge and expertise that he picked up from his prior experiences.

Why would he bother with forming his own promotional company when he could just as easily continue on with his consulting work, working with all of the PBC affiliated promoters (or even looking beyond that, maybe beyond the sport) and make a ton more money doing that?

Though the sport is moving away from the model, there is likely going to still be the occasional PPV fight; Stevenson-Kovalev and Klistchko-Wilder are both likely PPV fights. Beyond just general logistical issues, having Schaefer on hand to troubleshoot questions about the different aspects of a PPV promotion will likely be invaluable.

Have Schaefer on retainer, for help with boxing, with Schaefer putting the bulk of his efforts into another new endeavor.
