I've seen a few complaints about this one and personally I think it's a nice fight. It's kind of unrealistic to think every time a star fights it's going to be a universally regarded top guy, especially when he's not even defending a major belt. Kirkland makes good fights and even though he's had some low moments, his last fight was actually a pretty impressive beating over an undefeated prospect who has looked the goods since then imo. And it's a regular HBO fight, right? I can see if you assume it's not that intriguing but I really don't mind the fight or get the complaints I've read. I'm looking forward to it even. Whatchya think?

Would've preferred Clottey, quite frankly. Showcase fight for Canelo though. If this sets up Cotto in the fall, I'm all for it.

I'm looking forward to it. Of course it could be a blowout but If Kirkland is still there approaching halfway and starts growing into the fight, you know he can make things interesting.

Part of me thinks it will just be Canelo v Angulo 2 but i've always said i believe if Kirkland landed some big fights, he has it in him to upset a big name at some point.

I think its interesting and will be fun until Canelo most likely KO's him.

That's what I think. On one hand I lean toward a showcase or blowout type fight for Alvarez (which I'm completely fine with), on the other hand a pressure fighting, heavy handed southpaw with the heart of a lion has a special chance at upsets I'd think (which I'd be completely fine with too).

If Canelo didn't walk away we'd be having Cotto/Canelo in NY in June. I'm expecting a first round KO to be honest, Canelo is fighting a guy who hasn't fought in 17 months, it should be a total ass kicking on his part.

It will end in a KO, and Kirkland is a good fighter when he needs to be, bit of a wasted career though. Think its a good fight.

Kirkland should have stuck with Wolfe.

Not at all. I don't think he'll have any issues with him though.
