I think it's a telling sign of how the American boxing scene will morph over the next few years as the name PPv fighters retire and the young dudes aren't big enough to headline PPv... The network TV is gonna be important as I see showtime and hbo using sister networks to stay competitive with haymon and not allow him to rule the free airwaves
They've shown the TruTv fights on their schedule before.

They scheduled the first three TruTv fights on Fridays before HBO boxing events.

Ok, maybe I just hadn't noticed...been watching hbo since the 80s and they have never done this until recently... I do think it's a reaction on arum/hbo's part to haymin and PBC.. they don't want to give him to big of a first-mover advantage and are looking to counter his presence on network TV

Haymon has most of the Networks. I believe Arum will get regular old Fox.

Arum will get whoever is affiliated with hbo.. That's an easy deal for him and good for hbo boxing.. If a guy like Gilberto Ramirez can fight 4-5 times on a sister network and build a following, it will make his hbo debut much more interesting and may lure some new customers or at the very least have a ratings puller

Supposedly Top Rank was trying to get the deal for years.

Well, the Haymon effect isn't just that it's a new competitor on other channels, it's also because the PBC is leading to the end of ESPN2's Friday Night Fights soon.

Top Rank needs some TV presence between Unimas and HBO.

              Exactly.

A lot of Top Rank fighters aren't really at the level where they can justify regular fights on HBO, and HBO doesn't have the dates or budget to televise them all.

This gives Top Rank a place to show fighters before they go to HBO.

Take Felix Verdejo...he's making a jump from Unimas to HBO. Whiles there's buzz on the internet about him, there are still many HBO subscribers and other boxing fans who won't know who he is until he fights on the network.

In the future, a prospect like Jose Carlos Ramirez probably won't need to make that jump.

He can transition from UniMas to TruTv to HBO.
