A good step up for Gomez. Soto is a tough opponent with a good chin that throws some nice combinations at times. If Gomez stops Soto he will impress a lot of people and will make a statement.

Also, Canelo is not a brawler, he is a boxer puncher. You must be joking if you think Kirkland is "skilled boxing", he is the brawler in this case. It's ok, you probably haven't seen them fight.

Has a good chance of backfiring like Lemieux vs Rubio

      Good matchup though

      Rooting for Soto

I love the Pitbull's style but if he is being lazy (never heard of this before this thread), then he might pay because he doesn't have an AL Haymon matchup in front of him, Soto is tough. He is one of my favorite prospects along with Amir Imam, but he is still just a prospect and this is an important step up fight.

Plus his stint in jail a couple of years ago, . Also I remember running into Frankie Gomez at the Staples Center for the Canelo vs. Alfonso Gomez fight back in 2011, and he had 2 beers in his hands, . Wasn't even 21 yet (not that it matters), but he seemed more worried about having a good time than his blossoming career. He just has never seemed very dedicated to the sport, I think that's why GBP is throwing him in tough with Soto and if he happens to lose, f**k it.
Maybe he's gotten his head screwed on straight now, let's hope he has. Soto is a consummate professional, so if Gomez has slacked at all, it will definitely show.

Didn't he look like he had been locked up in a buffet with an unlimited supply of chimichangas a few months ago? I think he may have a problem with discipline. Hopefully he comes in ready for war, Zorrita brings it damn near every time.
