  • i didnt read it the way most of you guys did i saw it as a back handed compliment where lampley criticized him but still made it seem like he only lost because of an injury.

      • If everyone fights injured...How is this viewed as perpetrating a fraud???

I've never heard of any fighter's injury leading into a fight. Other than cuts to the eye or something of that nature. If anything fighters & camps always reveal injuries & problems afterward.

Remember tyson to jim grey..."I broke my back"

Even Floyd for Castillo says he went in w/ a torn rotator cuff. & According to him he had shoulder injuries...was that disclosed? I don't get it.

I'm very confused by the backlash.

No athlete wants to hold up such a heavily anticipated contest 3 weeks out & disappoint the public.

I don't like to hear about injuries in any case. My thing is if you're out there...you're healthy.

But the bottom line for me is the poor showmanship & lack of drama falls squarely on Floyd. This isn't olympic boxing. & think about it. Floyd got on his bike against a guy who stands 5'5" tall & who he knew was injured.

smh...who could make this up?? If the fight was so easy. Why not punish pac...why not throw shots w/ bad intent...why not close the show strong???

400 punches in a 12 rd championship fight???? gtfohwtbs!

Why not give the people a nigh to remember. Why not a classic showdown...

To me that was the fraud... The entire performance itself...not no injury disclosure. Did them guys even sweat? Did they have to take a shower...

        • The injury story we are hearing does not pass the smell test!

So Pacquaio supposedly has a bad shoulder injury, but here his camp is pre fight talking about how great he looks and how he has his killer instinct back, you keep your mouth shut if your fighter is hurt.

They can't even decide when he might have re-injured the shoulder in the fight, I call BS. These guys have been in the corner for hundreds and hundreds of fights, they remember exactly what round everything happened in, it's their career, they are professionals.

So no one had a clue in the corner? So you're telling me Pacquaio had a shoulder injury before the fight and hurt it in round 3 or 4, but he said nothing about it to his corner between rounds? Bull! He would have told them about it and they would have discussed it between each round the rest of the fight. "How's the shoulder Manny?"

And he lost the 1st 3 rounds cleanly before the alleged shoulder injury.

And why not talk about the injury in the ring afterwards? No one said jack about it until after Pacquiao and his team spent time in the locker room getting their story straight. It's total garbage, and if you believe it you're a total rube.

What likely happened is that Pacquiao has had a nagging injury to his shoulder for years, he may have tweaked it in training, but he was was 100% going into the fight, he then got embarrassed by Mayweather and was a sore loser. In the locker room after the fight, Arum and Roach came up with this injury excuse because they want a rematch. That's 99.999% likely to be exactly what happened. Now Manny is going to get surgery on a nagging shoulder injury that has been sore for several years, that's it.

His whole team is a joke.

          • Lampley jumps ship! Who would've thought!

I call this shoulder injury either A) complete BS or B) complete perjury and unjust enrichment.

            Case for A
This is Arum's strategy, plan "B", the "just in case" scenario, to get a rematch with Mayweather. Think about it- NEVER did Freddie Roach or Buboy Fernandez asked about the supposed shoulder injury in between rounds. Not once did they asked: "How's your shoulder doing champ?".
Right after the fight, when Kellerman had a mic on Pacquiao, did he once mention his torn shoulder? No. Was he in agony over a "significant tear" of his rotator cuff? No. He was delusional. He actually said "I thought I won the fight". Again, no mention of his shoulder injury.
It was only revealed once Arum had greased the wheel during the post-fight conference. They had all the "paperwork" lined up, even a sparring partner who confirmed the injury happened in March. He even claimed Mayweather camp had advanced knowledge of it and consequently took advantage of that by pulling his arm during the fight....really Manny?
In fact, if anyone reading this has ever had a "significant tear" on their rotator cuff, as some doctor has stated, then you would know it is almost impossible to even pick up a cell phone, let alone box 12 rds with the p-4-p king. On Saturday, Manny was boxing, he was throwing, he was TRYING, and yes he was using his right hand. He was outclassed. Simple as that.

            Case for B:
If the injury is legit, and all of the above are wrong assumptions, then ladies and gentlemen what you have here is an absolute robbery and Arum and company, including Manny, should get sued and spend every dime they made settling civil cases out of court.

In any case, I don't want to see a rematch. Partly because I don't believe he was really injured. Partly because I've been saying for years Mayweather wins an easy UD. Move on Pacquiao and become the President of the Philippines now that people still love you....oh right, you would need to cut the umbilical chord from Arum's TR grip...good luck with that.

            • Straight shooter

No one has less self-esteem than Mayweather groupies. And it's quite predictable, not to mention amusing, to see their confirmation bias being displayed in their reactions to Lampley's comments. But the truth is the reason he hasn't had much criticism for Manny until now is simply because there hasn't much to criticize.

Mayweather, otoh, has always been a POS. And, if anything, Lamps has gone easy on him over the years.
