Comments Thread For: Mayweather Vows To Retire While Body, Mind Still Sharp

As previously reported, Floyd Mayweather plans to surrender all five of his world titles after deciding the climax to his unbeaten career in September will be fought for prestige only. Mayweather added Manny Pacquiao's WBO welterweight belt to the WBA and WBC straps he already holds when he conclusively outpointed the Filipino to seal his status as the finest boxer of his generation.

The 38-year-old also reigns at light-middleweight where he is the division's WBA and WBC champion, yet there will be no titles at stake when he completes his six-fight deal with Showtime and enters retirement later this year.

He does have a sharp mind despite what you think.

He had the fortitude to buy his TR contract out and take control of his career. Yes he's had great advice from Al Haymon but that's what smart ppl do, they surround themselves with smarter ppl.

The proof is in the pudding - Floyd is as sharp a thinker as he is fighter.

All the BS money/cars/hoes you see is bravado.

He might not be able to read, but I'd swap not being able to read for his bank account any day.

Then I'd never be on this forum again because well, I can't read.

I'd like to see Floyd continue to fight, but he's right about keeping his health. Floyd can't put the fans desire to see him continue fight ahead of his health simply because some fans would like to see Floyd continue to fight for as many years as possible (5 more years is good, but 10 more is better).
