Comments Thread For: Macklin Hopes To Get Danny Jacobs of Andy Lee Shot

Matthew Macklin boxes at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Saturday (May 9) live on Sky Sports for the first time in five years and says he must bounce back in style to land a World title shot.

Macklin returns to action following his defeat against Jorge Sebastian Heiland in Dublin in November, and the 32 year old says he is aiming to prove he still has plenty to offer at the top level and can land World title fights against Irish rival Andy Lee or WBA champion Danny Jacobs.

“I’d love to fight Andy Lee or Danny Jacobs for the World title,” said Macklin. “Jacobs defended his World title last week and he is a name I have been linked with before so we’d jump at that.

Get a few wins and maybe he can get a Lee fight, but not sure why Jacobs would fight him at this point.

Wow I didn't think Macklin would be back after the way he got knocked out in November, he really is shot unfortunately. He has quite a few chances at elite level and that's generally where the buck stops with Macklin. But good luck to him I didn't realise he is only 32 years old, he needs to string together 3 or 4 wins before earning a title shot surely.

Let him fight Jacobs because he doesn't have a real title anyways and Haymon could use another middleweight fight on one of his PBC broadcasts. I would laugh if Macklin won and ended up becoming Golovkin's WBA mandatory. Then Geale beats Cotto and ends up having to defend against GGG as his mandatory. Golovkin ends up with three titles without breaking a sweat. LOL

Andy Lee's gotta fight B.J.Saunders next, so it's back of the Q for Brummy Macklin!
