Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson: I Was a Killer, These Guys Are Businessmen

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson wasn’t impressed by the relatively polite and civilised build-up, and the in-ring action, during this weekend’s “Fight Of The Century” between Floyd Mayweather, 48-0 (26), and Manny Pacquiao, 57-6-2 (38), which took place on Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Mayweather won solid a twelve round unanimous decision.

The 48-year-old was infamously mean and moody before, during and, occasionally, after his fights; the former fighter turned promoter and pundit bemoaned the lack of devilment on display when speaking to The Daily Telegraph’s Gareth A. Davies.

Yeah, fight of the Century shouldn't be boring. This fight will be forgotten.

Who doesn't know that Tyson was carefully managed? How many prime HOF did he beat? Why did it take him so long to fight Lennox Lewis and what happened when he fought Holyfield?

Regardless of his being carefully managed, Tyson's desire to destroy his opponent made fans tune in for the promise of his raging violence (and for quite some time his ability to deliver said goods).

            I mean it didn’t have to be a war/slugfest, just more action that’s all… what a disappointment.

Come on Mike, your opposition was usually subpar. You can't claim to be a killer if you only did it against guys like Julius Francis and Peter Mcneeley, where was the killer instinct against your fellow hall of famers like Lewis and Holyfield. I mean do people remember some of the bums that Mike fought lol.

I remember watching the Lewis Tyson fight, one of my first boxing matches, I was really disappointed in Mike, he gave up so easily after talking such a big game before to promote the fight, so I don't see where he thinks he can level any criticism toward Floyd or Manny.

Didnt look like a killer vs evander. Mike was a bully who shrunk when somebody wasnt scared. That was a character flaw. Mike was more exciting than floyd but floyd works with what he has. Hes not a big puncher. These people mad because they thought floyd was suddenly gone change his ways. He did what he has been doing for years.
