Analytical Proof that Pacquiao Was Injured

At the post fight press conference Bob Arum revealed that Pacquiao had suffered a shoulder injury in training camp. Before we jump to conclusions let's take a look back at the events leading up to the fight.

Pacquiao was rumored to be using a anti-inflammatory cream to treat his recurring leg cramps. However, Justin Fortune refuted those claims in an interview with Steve Kim by making it clear to the media that Pacquiao's leg are fine.

The leg cramp rumors were nothing more than a scheme to keep the shoulder injury under wraps.

Pacquiao had to take a week off from sparring. The reasons were unclear at the time but now it's pretty obvious why he took a break.

HALL of Fame trainer Freddie Roach said eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao looks phenomenal after the Filipino southpaw resumed training at the Wild Card Gym yesterday. Pacquiao did 16 rounds on the punch-mitts after a morning run at Griffith Park and indicated his one-week layoff from sparring had fired him up, just as Roach had expected. However, there was no definite word on whether Pacquiao will resume sparring on Tuesday (Los Angeles time). Roach asked him to skip sparring last week after 29 hard-fought rounds the previous week, concerned that his ward may burn himself out and leave the fight in the gym.

Let's not forget about the unexpected end to Pacquiao's open media workout.

Pacquiao fought a very left-handed fight and didn't throw his right jab nor right hook nearly enough. Considering all of the above, it would be fair to assume that Pacquiao did indeed suffer a shoulder injury during training camp.

he was definitely injured they kept saying he was skipping training and having to use various medications

but once you enter the ring you kind of commit to fight and all that goes out the window

I sympathize because this was a financially non-cancellable fight and he really had no choice but he would have lost anyway, he's a severely weathered, slowed down, worn out fighter.

Floyd's style has allowed him to stay "intact" much longer than his peers. He's probably taken 100x more flush punches in sparring than in actual fights.

I love Pacquiao and was hoping for him to win, but he didn't. If the injury was that severe than postpone the fight, the public already waited 5 years so what's a few more weeks. He's a great fighter and I'll always cherish his run but he got beat by the better fighter.
