Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Coach: Unification is Certainly a Goal

One of the sport’s most talented exponents appears on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao Saturday night in Las Vegas. Vasyl Lomachenko (3-1, 1 KO), already a world champion four fights into his professional career makes the second defence of his WBO featherweight crown against Puerto Rico’s Gamalier Rodríguez (25-2-3, 17 KOs).

Oxnard-based Cicilio Flores is the Ukrainian’s strength and conditioning coach and provided an update to BoxingScene.com on their training camp.

“Camp went really well, this is my third camp with him and it gets better and better,” said Flores.

Loma takes the WBC belt like he took Russel Jr.'s 0 the first time they fought.

Santa Cruz will move up to 126 so he can avoid Loma like he avoided Rigo...

Only person I see Loma as 50-50 with is Rigo. Other than that he takes them ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL out.

tbh I think the hype around Loma so far is more because if his amateur career. Put you hands on you heart and say that you would be this high on they guy if you only saw his 4 pro fights so far without any knowledge about his past. Sure, he fought a good fight against Russell but so far I don't see why Walters couldn't handle him and I most certainly wouldn't shout him out as a future PPV star. Once because he didn't prove yet that he has the goods for it (amateur career doesn't count for me in this question) and second: he is probably in a too little weightclass to become a huge PPV star.

Loma might be the best pure fighter in the sport. Vicious combinations, sound defensive fundamentals. Only thing he is lacking is a one punch knockdown

Was a bit impressed with Lomanamechachenkowhatever's performance tonight. Experience is what he was lacking and he's gaining it now. I like his style.

I actually believe Rigondeaux-Lomachenko is THE super fight...All others in or around the weight class gets thoroughly outboxed by both these men...

Lomachenko is up against it. Rumors are that Walters will be leaving to join Haymon. Same time Russell, Mares, Santa Cruz, Cuellar, Velez, Sonsona and Hunter are signed with Haymon. And Selby is favored over Gradovich, and is signed to Hearn who is aligned with Haymon.
