Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr: Pacquiao Won't Decline After Four Like Judah

Floyd Mayweather has been warned by one of his predecessors as pound for pound king that he faces a sustained barrage of punches from Manny Pacquiao.

Roy Jones Jr, a former four-weight world champion, believes Pacquiao's speed and work rate will trouble Mayweather when the welterweight rivals meet at the MGM Grand in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"Manny's best game plan is pressure, pressure. Floyd has never fought an opponent like Manny who throws so many punches, has power in both hands and is southpaw," Jones told Press Association Sport.

The thing is Manny doesn't usually get reckless until after the 5th or 6th round when his opponent is tired and beat up moreso. This let's Manny take more chances because he feels there is less worry of return fire, or heavy return fire.(paid heavy price for that against Marquez)

I think Manny will be on his A-game, Oscar Dela Hoya style. The first 4rd rounds will be accurate precision punching to shock Jr possibly by landing punches Jr. never thought would get around his guard. If Jr. does begin to falter and Pacquiao senses it, he'll turn up the firepower in the 2nd half of the fight. This is all provided Pac can show more willpower in the early rounds than Jr.

What Roy is forgetting is that volume punchers' punch output drops against great counterpunchers. Hopkins/Pavlik is exhibit A.

Is it because Judah usually does that or because Mayweather put on the best body punching display of his career?

They tend to leave out the body punching Floyd was doing in early rounds but in previous fights Judah did slow down after 6 rounds
