Comments Thread For: Gesta-Molina Draw: Quigley, Fontanez, Falcao Win

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California - Junior welterweights Mercito Gesta, (28-1-2, 16 KOs) and Carlos Molina (17-2-2, 7 KOs) fought to a ten round split draw in the FS1 televised main event. The scores were 95-95, 98-92 for Molina, and 96-94 for Gesta. The fight was a crossroads contest for both. Molina landed the better punches and Gesta often controlled the action with his jab and flashier displays of combinations. They traded often, with Molina landing some well placed counters.

Puerto Rico’s Jeffrey Fontanez (15-1, 12KOs) crushed Jose Hernandez (15-10-1, 7 KOs), who went down twice in the first before it was stopped.

BS score in my opinion, how do you have that other guy with 92-98 in favor for Molina? Mercito used a lot of movement, combinations and showed he has some chin. Molina was 90% flat footed looking for that one shot. It was a great fight, but bogus result. Mercito should have won that, but that fight establishes he is not of Khan and Broner's league, he should stay away from his current division. He lacks power.

that was still a high level boxing match IMHO. Gesta could beat Algieri.

Fontanez and Quigley looked good. Gesta fight could of went either way, I had him winning but not upset with the draw. But he is just not that good and would struggle against the top fighters in his division.

Quigley drilled snyder, he carries some weight in those punchs, that left hook and cross doh, great KO. Still has a few things to work at that hes carrying over from the amatuers, the pulling back whitout hands up for example, but its going to be great to see him progress,a top prospect IMO
