  • Comments Thread For: PBC On Spike TV Ratings Results From April 24 Show

The April 24 installment of Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV played to 569,000 homes, including a 0.2 ratings among the coveted adults 18-49 market, according to data obtained from Nielsen Media Research. The show was a considerable drop from the series premiere on Spike TV, with its March 13 edition drawing nearly 1 million viewers.

Acknowledgment of a potential drop in ratings was expressed by PBC brass during fight week, though never to the point of concern. Heading into the show at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, there existed the realization of competing with a pair of NBA Playoff games on ESPN, both of which were the highest rated sporting events on the night.

The biggest televised story of the night, however, existed far beyond the world of sports, although involving a former athlete. [Click Here To Read More]

Those are bad numbers. And the really concerning issue is that the second round of PBC cards have all dropped in ratings. NBC second show with Danny Garcia less then the first with Thurman. The CBS show with Stevenson was a disaster with tons of empty seats and worst ratings of the Saturday Network shows. And the Friday Spike TV ratings have been dropping from their first card with Berto. They are getting less ratings the reruns of Cops which air right before. Add that to numerous stories of how PBC can't sell their tickets and been forced to just give away many of the tickets. PBC has a huge price tag for each show because of the high purses for the fighters and they have to pay the networks to air the fight. But with such low ratings they will struggle to find commercial sponsors to jump on board to help pay some of the huge losses.

Trying to use the 'big reveal' from Bruce Jenner as a reason for the lower ratings is really desperate. I don't think that too many boxing fans are interested in Jenner or his TV whore family, the Kartrashians.

Boxing events with bad numbers always seem to have an excuse.

"It was up against this or that."

Just take the L like a man, damn.

This is pretty much what it is. The production values are also sub par, so the it's just not a very attractive program at the moment. If there were great match ups lined up, the ratings would increase.

more mediocre numbers from the mediocre PBC. PBC is just a poor imitation of REAL boxing.

can't wait for this poopfest to disappear and we can all forget this ever happened.

                    Haymon bull**** stopped working

He can not trick real boxing fans. Making millions giving us ****ty opposition works no more. Now if instead of Dirrell and jack who are boring as **** and nobody knows them except real aficionados, you can come with Matthysse vs Provo or Bradley vs Thurman, people will engage. Say No To Haymon Mafia!
