Pretty much this. Not only is Manny a generally more likable character, people generally want to see the underdog pull off the upset. However, the smart money is on Floyd.

Admits to his dislike for Floyd Mayweather on ESPN his and her. He stated, "if I have a gun to my head, I'm picking Mayweather". He later would say that Manny's fighting style is better suited for prize fighting, and he likes Manny better as a person.

Now, if we can only get Jim Lampley to finally admit his hatred for Floyd, we can rid ourselves of having to hear him call fights.

We are all boxing fans here I don't know about you but 99% of the fights I watch there is someone I want to win and someone I want to lose. If your commentating boxing hopefully your a fan therefore you have biases the skill of commentary is to not let these affect how you call a fight Lampley is terrible at this giving his fighter the benefit of the doubt, Merchant was no where near as bias as Lampley is and I see no problem in him not liking a fighter.

5x he's been caught on Domestic Violence.

What do you expect? a respected network to align themselves with a known Wife Beater.

99% of the world doesn't like FLoyd for those reasons, and to add, he then burns money and throws it in peoples faces during a recession.


Boxing is a Lifestyle, what you do inside the ring, counts as much as what you do outside of it.

No one is out to get FLoyd, stop crying, he did this on himself.

Merchant always had something negative to say to Mayweather in every post fight interview, about pretty much every performance. It wasn't something he had to come out and literally say. Actions speak louder than words and Merchant had already showed over the last decade+ that he does not like Mayweather either as a boxer or person. I'm surprised it took Mayweather than long to snap on Merchant.

Larry was the same way with Roy and Tyson. I think if you're Floyd, Merchant not liking you is an indicator that you are at the top of the sport.

Yep, Merchant had a clear disdain for Tyson. Ironically, Tyson had a much more "exciting" fighting style than Manny.

There was a post fight interview where Mayweather was stuttering all over his words and Merchant said something like "Well you sure are brighter in the ring than in person". Straight disrespecting him.

HBO fired Merchant after Floyd left for SHO because they knew Merchant didn't do them any favors with their relationship. HBO disguised it as a "retirement".
