by David P. Greisman - For some, it comes after a brush with death. For others, the moment is less about mortality yet changes their lives nevertheless.

Paulie Malignaggi’s moment was a terrifying one, a loss in the boxing ring that left him concussed and hospitalized. That outcome and aftermath had him reconsidering something that had long been his career but which had truly become his life’s work.

He started boxing at 16, turned pro at 20, won two world titles, headlined in main events on major broadcasts, and shared the ring with some of the stars of his generation. More than half his life had been spent with gauze and tape and gloves on his hands, with other men seeking to hurt him, and with him using a mix of speed, skill, technique and guile to win.

But at that moment, he was 33 years old and considering retirement.

Malignaggi had never been a quitter. Not when the string of hand injuries kept taking him away from the sport he loved. The damage deprived him of the tools of his trade, and the threat for further harm always lingered. He had not quit in 2006 when Miguel Cotto fractured Malignaggi’s orbital bone, as the swelling disfigured his face and with Cotto still coming at him with hard shots. Malignaggi had protested when trainer Buddy McGirt stopped his fight with Ricky Hatton in 2008. He didn’t want the fight to end that way, even with the lead on the scorecard insurmountable and despite the potential for further punishment. [Click Here To Read More]

That's what he gets for implying that Porter was on steroids. Dude got clocked and was out cold. What a show Porter put on that night!

Greisman's a story teller who reads my posts and answers me! LOL! Here's the truth about Pauli's fight vs Porter--> He wasn't punched, he was pushed down and quit while he lay there fully conscious, waiting for the ref to finish counting. They replayed it several times and a punch DID NOT LAND *IMMEDIATELY BEFORE* HE FELL TO THE FLOOR. HE WAS PUSHED DOWN. He was punched B4 he fell to the floor like David said but it wasn't immediately b4 he fell. So once again, A PUNCH DIDN'T LAND IMMEDIATELY B4 HE FELL TO THE GROUND. HE WAS PUSHED. So "ATG" Willie Pep quit twice tho!!! Anyways, Pauli already proved his great courage and isn't a quitter, it was only one fight, but the point is the cable commentators treated Marco Antonio Rubio differently when he actually tried to get up to fight(unlike Pauli, but most especially Willie Pep) vs GGG but couldn't anticipate or beat the ref accelerating his count the last 3 seconds. David, stop calling me out. You know better than that. Oh, and you're trying too hard but you don't see it. LOL! Whatever.

Hey David, why don't you write an answer to what I said about ATG Willie Pep the 2 time Quitter!!! LOL! The thing I don't get about these dudes that worship mere men and treat the boxing stories about them as if they were sacred text, is that THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM GOING AROUND BASHING PEOPLES BELIEF ABOUT GOD BUT CRY LIKE LITTLE WUSSIES WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE IDOLS THEY WORSHIP!!! LOL!!!!

P.S. Here's a question. What country produced fighters who were known for fighting with such ferocity that their careers would end in the mid 20's and were also known for getting up after they were knocked down and going right after their opponent? See, you guys can manipulate all you want but you can't erase history. Whatevs............

Put up a video showing the fight's end. If I'm wrong I'll admit it but If I'm right David has to do the same.

              So here's the vid

              https://********/CrH_QqEvzQ8

and here's the truth--> David, you're a got damn biased liar!!! Pauli took a punch from Porter( with only mid 50's KO% at the time, not a GGG type) and then he tried to clinch(meaning he was mentally functioning) and then took some grazing punches that didn't have leverage because Porter was too close. But here's the key......... Pauli THEN PUT UP HIS GLOVES TO PROTECT HIMSELF(again, he was mentally functioning) AS PORTER PUSHED HIM DOWN. Again, there was no punch immediately b4 Pauli was pushed down. Pauli was mentally functioning and protecting himself *BEFORE* he was pushed down so he was even MORE alert, not less, David, after he layed down. And Pauli layed there fully conscious(which you can also clearly see) and didn't try to get up, unlike Rubio vs a murderous puncher like GGG. Geez, you make it too obvious to see your bias you stooge! By golly I feel like I'm dealing with children!!! LOL!

PS Again, I don't question Pauli's courage because he's proved it. This was just one fight(unlike Willie Pep). And that's why I'm writing in invisible letters, out of respect for Pauli.

                  Paulie accusing again.

Paulie, boxing is all about defending yourself at all times. You stuck your chin way out there to be hit and he hit it with a lunging bomb. Plain and simple he miscalculated Porter's lunge and left his chin in midair. Boom, fight over. Take the loss like a man and give Porter his props and stop insinuating.

Paulie needs to retire and stick to what he's good at...announcing Fights. Even in his prime he had pillow fists. Now he's moved up to 147 and has no pop and now his hunger is up for debate. This is how fighters get seriously hurt. He looked terrible against Porter and the comments months after the fight sound like a man who wanted to retire. He has no shot at the top fighters at 147.
