Comments Thread For: Roach: No Surprise if Pacquiao Wins Every Single Round

How confident is Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach of victory on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas? Confident enough that he won't be surprised if Manny Pacquiao dominates the entire fight and wins every single round over undefeated WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The mega-fight is now less than a week away and both sides are making very big boasts regarding their ability to win. Uncle and co-trainer Roger Mayweather predicted earlier that his nephew will secure a knockout victory within five rounds of action.

Roach is predicting a knockout as well, but also says Pacquiao is not going to get wild to get one. The game plan appears to be to overwhelm Mayweather with a high workrate and force the pound-for-pound king to fight off the ropes.

Id be surprised if Floyd makes it to the half way mark. Hes gonna have to run and clinch to make it. Not win it. But make it out the fight without getting KOd.

One problem is Floyd has commanded centre of the ring for most of his fights since Marquez except the Maidana fights. Maidana might not be the boxer Pacquiao is, but he's stronger and has a way harder style to deal with.

If Floyd can command centre of the ring against Canelo - and he did - then he can do it against Pacquiao imo.

It's too bad Bayless is the ref, now Pacquiao can't do his famous inside work and rough Floyd up. Pacquiao's style of digging his forehead in his opponents chest and doing that Brandon Rios/Antonio Margarito-like work along the ropes and the corners will now be foiled by that meddling Kenny Bayless. I was really looking forward to getting a ref that would let Manny "Wildman" Pacquiao fight his fight
