Yeah, wanting to clean out 160 completely like Hagler or Hopkins is such nonsense. LMFAO!. Where do these people come from.
of course GGG would rather stay at the weight he feels comfortable and fight the other title holders bf moving up. Thats what all the great middleweight Champs have done. A fighter should NEVER be criticized for staying in their weight class if they are trying to fight best available in their weight. Clearly Cotto and Martinez bf him wanted NO part of GGG. Haymon dont want Quillin mixed up wit GGG either. Proska, Macklin, Geale and Murray were legit top 10 contenders, Stevens and Rubio top 15 contenders. Lee could be nxt, and winner of Lemeiux v N'Diam. If Canelo beats Cotto, that could happen in '16. All he can do is fight best available at his wt class and ko everyone he fights, and that's what he's been doin

GGG should stay at 160, but he doesn't have a Tommy Hearns that Hagler had in his division, can only hope for Canelo moving up or fighting Quilin.

Kinda funny how team Ward was trying to make LHW Oosthuzien fight at 168 and now fights SMW Smith at 172.

Why would Ward fight Fonfara at 172?

The thing with going up in weight and fighting Ward is that basically there is no coming back down. Not without a serious detriment to the body. As of today GGG still can make 154 and be more or less effective there (even though his best weight is 160). All those ****** catchweights below 160 are also very possible for him, especially given that this would be for a very hefty payday. But once he goes up, this ship is sailed... Unless he'll fight at SMW but will not bulk up. He'll be a considerably smaller man, but maybe his other assets will save the day for him. Not a fair fight, but possible.

But now Ward returns to action and he is no longer at 168. He is going to fight at 172. What is the point of going up if there is no Ward there?

IMO, GGG will be better served to clean up 160 and sit on top of it as an undisputed champion, with possibly some trips to JMW...
