Comments Thread For: Foreman: Only Someone Very Special Beats Klitschko

NEW YORK: Heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, the dominant star of what was once the sport’s most glamorous division, is struggling to get attention for his New York title defense Saturday.

Seldom is the 1.98m Ukraine giant dwarfed by anything, but the huge interest in next week’s long-awaited welterweight showdown between Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten US star Floyd Mayweather has turned Klitschko’s first US bout since 2008 into an afterthought.

The fight isn’t a sellout at Madison Square Garden, where Britain’s Lennox Lewis and American Evander Holyfield staged a heavyweight showdown for an undisputed crown in 1999 that ended in a controversial draw.

Come on Wilder, all you have to is land that one punch, anything other than that, you are in a fight for your life.

Foreman's statement has definitely been true until now. In 2015, the early signs of physical decline (less muscle mass, yet less muscle definition) seem to have set in for W Klitschko. I say, unfortunately, he is game for a good heavyweight like D Wilder in 2015. W Klitschko will not be the heavyweight king before 2016 is over.

Exactly. Wilder has that 1 punch that can shatter the china in Klitschko's chin.

I haven't noticed any muscle definition loss. You have to remember he is very pale and cuts don't show up as easily as if he had a tan or naturally dark skin. I would worry more about reflex loss, like what Holmes experienced and that forced him to have wars with mediocre fighters like Bey, Boneclutcher and the Truth before he lost to Spinks.

The difference is very subtle, but visible. Have a look at the "flexing pose" of WK from the Lepai fight in 2014, which is the typical WK that has been the norm up until now...

I agree, loss of reflexes is more important than muscle bulk & definition, but I cannot comment on that yet; however they both go hand in hand.

special?....you mean someone who can punch, because no one has connected with his chin since he got the title. Not his fault though....but his reign will be forgotten as soon as he lose his belt.
