truTV and Top Rank will partner to exclusively present the MetroPCS Friday Night Knockout on truTV, a live primetime boxing series set to debut Friday, May 1, at 10 p.m. ET. The new boxing series, in association with Turner Sports and HBO Sports, will launch on the eve of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view fight with a card featuring two title bouts inside The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

The network’s presentation will feature the first-ever domestic use of “Spidercam” technology for a live boxing telecast, providing dynamic coverage of this new series. “Spidercam” operates on a four-point system of cables from designated points beyond the corners of the boxing ring. The suspended camera has the ability to provide compelling 360-degree angles of the action including the ability to move in three dimensions – left/right, forward/backward and up/down.

So they got MetroPCS as a primary sponsor, and Sony Playstation as another sponsor.

These are some pretty good fights. I'm looking forward to watching top rank fighters on free t.v. Top rank has the most exciting fighters in the sport in my opinion and also the future ppv stars like Terance Crawford, lomachenko, and Nicholas Walters. The reason top rank builds all the ppv stars is because they put them in tough fights which is good for the fans and the fighters reputations. There's a reason every single ppv fighter in the sport today besides canelo was developed by top rank. De la Hoya, Manny pacquiao, Juan Marquez, Miguel cotto, Chavez Jr, and even Floyd mayweather all became the most popular fighters in the game because of top rank developing them and putting them in the toughest fights. Conversely, this is also why haymon has so much top talent, yet his fighters receive poor ratings and none of them are even close to becoming ppv stars. Guys like amir khan, Adonis Stevenson, Peter quillen, and Danny Garcia could have already been ppv fighters if haymon would have let them fight the toughest opponents available. That's what haymon doesn't get. He thinks hes doing his fighters a favor by allowing them to take easy fights in 3 out of every 4 fights, when in reality he is actually doing them a disservice because they will never become more popular fighting bums.
