So to ATTEMPT to force more wealthy/priviledged kids to box, "close the boxing gyms down in the ******", and take away a place for less fortunate children to seek refuge in? Can someone hit this moron with some red K? Foolish.

        This summs it up perfectly.

Samething that happened to Roy, looks like may happen to Floyd, I hope not but maybe Floyd doesn't want to really test his skills.

Agreed, British sports fans in general get really excited at a whiff of success because its been decades since we've dominated any "major" sport (perhaps rugby for a few years 2002-3).

Now because of Hatton and JC suddenly the UK thinks it produces the best boxers, not true in comparison to Mexico and Puerto Rico.

That said, after the treatment of Calzaghe by many on these boards I think a bit of gloating was due, the guy deserved respect.

One more thing, why are some US fans obsessed with foreign fighters having to come to the states to prove their worth. The money in Germany and the UK is picking up and the champ should be able to fight in his backyard if he wants. Thats why I like Pacman fighting in the Phillipines, make these Americans and south americans take it from you!

Likewise if someone wanted to beat Jones jnr. or Hopkins, it should always have been in MSG or Vegas.

yeah i get you , the champ should have home field .. in the case of 2 champs fighting it should be a neutral spot ...the rest of what you said i agree with

Your perception of American Boxers and inner city youths is severely flawed which is probably indicative of your lack of intellect.

It seems to me like poverty kind of breeds good boxers in a lot of cases. I think it is the desperation that comes with poverty that makes people really willing to put their bodies and braincells on the line to the extent neccessary to make it big. I think this is why so many boxers come from poor countries or from poor segments of wealthier countries.
