Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins To Decide Future in The Summer

The Alien or The Executioner or whatever moniker he chooses to go by now - Bernard Hopkins - played the role of promoter this last weekend in Verona. Even wearing the hat of promoter at the Lucas Matthysse-Ruslan Provodnikov event this past weekend, he could not escape the questions of a possible return to the ring.

“I’m always boxing man,” Hopkins said to BoxingScene.com. “Days after I lost to Sergey Kovalev I was right back on the street running and back in the gym training.”

Training for what though? A possible return to the right at age 50?

Say what you want about his most previous fight, but I think he can still do something vs Fonfara or Stevenson. I truly believe that the fact that he didn't look good vs Kovalev is because he was extra cautious of Kovalevs power and thus he didn't let his hands go. I think he has one more in him before he announces his retirement. If not, then he should go out fighting a can to please the fans and make himself look good. Go out on a high note with a decisive win.

True, but they're with Haymon, Hopkins can't get a fight against Haymon fighters.

There don't seem to be a lot of options for him.

Retire. You have nothing left to prove. Enjoy life promoting. He's also pretty damn good calling the fights on HBO. I thought he did a great job with the Pascal fight and Matthysee fight last weekend.

I'd love to see it but Chavez is with Haymon so that fight won't happen. And even if Haymon allowed it Chavez would be dumb to take it. He already got exposed and is now damaged goods he would get schooled and embarrassed by Hopkins. If Chavez does come back it will be against a soft nobody.

The only fight I would like to see is Stevenson. Barring that he just needs to ride off into the sunset as one of the ATGs he is.

I don't want to hear about how his bones will be preserved and in museums for everyone to see. Just go away, I say that as one of his biggest fan.
