I think true greatness is based on the MAN you ARE, not simply a collection of impressive stats.
Ali stood up and stuck it to the man at a time when everything was stacked against him. He made a stand and that elevated him from a gifted boxer to a great man.
You can't buy that kind of class and its something Floyd has never understood.

Mayweather you nothing but a marketing ploy and when you get iced, completely dominated like Rios did to Alvardo and stopped inside of 3 rounds the world will know, you and your family aint nothing but bums, you remebered as a damn blemish on boxing history.

active fighter
Why should the best of this era bow down to the best of another era. Floyd is still an active fighter he would be a fool to down play his achievements on the eve of the biggest fight in boxing history.
The fans will decide who is greater. In the future I believe he will surpass Ali, But For me it will always be Ali for what he did outside of the ring.

Jordan, just like Floyd..stood for absolutely nothing.. Therefore i put him on the same boat as Floyd.. Now if you put bill russell next to Ali, that makes more sense

logic
Oddly enough, The same people who hated Ali are same people that hate Mayweather. And when the next Ali-Mayweather comes along they will tell that kid that he can't carry Mayweather's or Ali's jock strap. Hatred has never been logical.

Lots of negative stuff here. But Floyd DOES stand for hard work, and he says it all the time. Why is that so bad?
Also: We don't KNOW if he's a woman beater. A Christian would point out, "judge not, lest ye be judged." I'm sure other religions have similar wisdom.
As for Ali, many Americans hated him in the 60s for "dodging" the draft. They believed he only stood for himself, and not for his country "right or wrong", or for its values. LATER everyone admired him. But not in the day. The blue collar guys rooted for Frazier to kill Ali in 1970. They hated his guts.
