Comments Thread For: Ioka Edges Reveco To Claim Title In Third Weight Class

The second time was a charm for Kazuto Ioka in his quest to win titles in three weight classes. The 26-year old turned back the best that visiting flyweight titlist Juan Carlos Reveco had to offer in gutting out a 12-round majority decision to claim the crown Wednesday evening in Osaka, Japan.

Scores were 114-114 even, and 115-113 and 116-112 in favor of Ioka. BoxingScene.com had it 116-112 in favor of Ioka, watching from the living room couch. [Click Here To Read More]

Ioka is actually a champion in only one weight class: minimumweight.
He won the WBA 'regular' title in light-flyweight which basically doesn't count, and then the same in flyweight which doesn't count either.
Roman Gonzalez was the reigning WBA champ at 108 and Juan Francisco Estrada is the current WBA champ at 112.
No wonder why he went for the 'regular' title.

Japan now has two so-called three-weight-class champions: Kameda and Ioka
Big thanks to WBA for making it so easy lol

Impressive. He'd probably be on the P4P list if was fighting on HBO.

Glad Ioka won, I was hoping he would pull through and he did. Reveco is a good little fighter himself and his body attack is great to watch. I hope Reveco has some gas left in the tank, I would love to see him against some of the other top names in the division.

For now, Ioka vs Estrada sounds fun.

They were smart to avoid the fight the first time, let's hope they're smart enough again

Of course you would think that. Rigo is getting dropped by *******s, roman and estrada would destroy him. You'll get your wish soon, inoue is moving up rapidly and should be at 122 shortly. Lets see what excuse your hero has then.
